Historic Charleston South Carolina | Kasslynn & David

Charleston, South Carolina is one of my favorite cities to visit. The architecture, the food, the historic spaces: it’s like nothing else. There’ so much life and color to this city, that makes photographing couples in it a dream.

While Kasslynn & David live in Charleston now, they got married in Pinehurst, North Carolina later in the year (see their wedding day here!). I thought it was a great time to take some photos in their current home town and document living in such a vibrant city. So we headed to one of my favorite spots in Charleston, the downtown historic district.

THE LIGHT, THE COLORS, THE VIBRANCY

You really can’t go wrong in downtown Charleston in picking spots as the backdrop for your photos. There are so many gorgeous historic buildings, city parks, and natural spaces. Typically I’ll pick an area with a few spots in mind and walk with my couples seeing what resonates with us both. This session was no different. We started at one of the city parks, then moved down to Rainbow Row, taking our time and stoping when a spot caught our eye (which happened often ). Charleston always gives me a feeling of elegance & life with its vibrant mixture of colors, textures, and landscaping that make up the city. As a wedding photographer it’s a joy to have so much to play with and incorporate into telling couples stories.

I love the intimacy, the energy, and the life these photos evoke, and I can’t wait to create more later this year in one of my favorite cities.
