Timeless Celebration at the Merrimon-Wynne House Wedding Venue
There’s something undeniably special about a Merrimon-Wynne House wedding. The house itself is full of timeless architecture and southern charm, and the grounds feature lush gardens for endless photo opportunities. As a wedding photographer who adores historic spaces and the stories they hold, this venue has quickly become one of my favorites.
Every corner of The Merrimon-Wynne House invites romance and storytelling, making it a memorable location to celebrate your love.
A Timeless Setting in the Heart of Raleigh
Built in 1876 and lovingly restored to its original grandeur in 2014, The Merrimon-Wynne House beautifully blends classic southern architecture with elegant, modern design. When you book this venue, you have exclusive use of the property for the entire day, giving you and your guests the privacy and intimacy your wedding deserves.
The home’s original flooring, fireplace mantels, and sweeping porches tell stories of generations past, while its gorgeous chandeliers and neutral finishes create the perfect backdrop for your celebration. For couples who appreciate the beauty of history, this Raleigh landmark delivers both sophistication and warmth.
The Merrimon-Wynne House Wedding Experience
One of the things I love most about photographing at the Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, NC is the variety of spaces, each with its own personality.
The Suites
The Bridal Suite is a sun-filled haven. Peaceful, elegant, and ideal for those meaningful “getting ready” photos. The soft morning light through its large windows highlights every detail of lace and joy. The Groom’s Room overlooks the lawn, offering a more relaxed, refined space for candid, pre-ceremony moments.
The Lawn
If you’re dreaming of saying your vows beneath century-old trees, this is the place. The Lawn offers space for up to 300 guests, surrounded by lush landscaping and the gentle hum of downtown Raleigh just beyond the garden walls. Add twinkling market lights or a tent for a truly magical evening.
The Main House
Inside The Main House, every room offers charm. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, while chandeliers cast a romantic glow as evening falls. It’s a perfect setting for an intimate ceremony, cocktail hour, or elegant seated dinner.
The Carriage House
For larger gatherings of 250 guests, The Carriage House is perfect. Complete with grand chandeliers, exposed beams, and rolling glass doors that open onto the pergola and lawn, it’s every bride's dream. The indoor-outdoor flow gives your guests the best of both worlds and creates countless opportunities for dynamic, light-filled photos.
The Merrimon-Wynne House Wedding Details
The photos I captured at The Merrimon-Wynne House were full of personal, classic details:
The florals showcased a palette of white, green, and burnt orange; a color scheme that perfectly complemented the venue’s neutral tones.
The bride wore a modest lace-detailed dress, a very nontraditional wedding theme yet, timeless and elegant.
We captured portraits in the gardens beneath the pecan trees and inside the home, where soft light and historic charm made for breathtaking imagery.
It’s these thoughtful, authentic touches that transform a wedding into a lasting story.
Merrimon-Wynne House Wedding Cost
According to the venue, weekday all-inclusive packages begin at $13,500 for 40 guests, including the venue, catering, rentals, bar, and planning services. Other event rentals start around $3,000 and can reach $13,500 or more, depending on season, guest count, and event needs.
